EAST AFRICA
KENYA & TANZANIA

15-19 June 2025
“In Swahili, safari means "journey" or "expedition."
This will be my 10th journey to East Africa.
It is my go to place to get back in touch with nature and bring me back down to earth.
My most wonderful memory is when I watched a young male lion, back lit by the sun, hiding in the reeds along the banks of the Mbalageti River.
I love the night sounds in the Serengeti and the morning dew on the savannah of the Masai Mara.
Join me for the greatest show on Earth,
the Wild Kingdom”. Rhonda

Our safari guide will pick us up from our hotel and drive us east to Amboseli in just over 3 hours. Our lodge, the Ol Tukai, is a comfortable lodge in Amboseli National Park offering excellent views of Africa’s highest mountain – Mt Kilimanjaro. Our lunch we be served on the veranda which offers views of the elephants, zebras and buffalos out on the plains. We have a pool as well as the renowned Elephant Bar serving cocktails, juices, beers and liquors. This afternoon we have our first game drive, so get your Africa eyes in and your cameras charged.
Day 4 Wednesday 04 June 2025 Amboseli National Park (B,L,D)
The only time for resting when you are “on safari” is the middle of the day because the animals only go to work during the morning and nighttime. When you are not animal spotting, you have time at the lodge to swim, upload your photos, meet other guests and relax. Today we have an early morning game drive and an afternoon game drive.

There are 20 spacious tents built on wooden platforms and each tent has a private veranda with stunning views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. The tents have twin or double four-poster beds with mosquito nets, a dressing table, a chair and electrical charging point as well as private bathroom.
Both the dining and lounge areas adjoin a campfire area and game viewing deck that also overlook the same stunning views. The lodge’s small gift shop offers the families of the nearby Maasai villages a chance to sell some of their handmade wares. We have a game drive in the afternoon.

Day 8 Sunday 08 June 2025 Ngorongoro Crater (B,L)
We make the most of our safari in the crater, spending between four and five hours exploring this area. The crater floor offers excellent game viewing all year round and the photographic opportunities here are unrivalled. The Ngorongoro Crater, is the largest unbroken caldera in the world and the first sight of it is breathtaking.
The crater supports up to 25,000 large mammals. Grazers dominate zebra, wildebeest - accounting for almost half the animals - gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest and warthog. Giraffe, for example, stays away because there is insufficient food at tree level. Ngorongoro has carnivores in quantity, drawn by the large herds of prey animals. It has the densest population of large predators, mainly lion - about 100 - and more than 400 spotted hyenas living in eight clans of up to eighty individuals. On our way back to the lodge we will visit a Masai Village.
Day 9 Monday 09 June 2025 Ngorongoro to the Serengeti (B,L,D)
We say farewell to the crater and all of the lovely animals and travel by road to the Serengeti National Park. This is a very long driving day, approximately 6-7 hours but there will be toilet and snack stops along the way.
Welcome to the real heart of Africa, where flat top Acacia Trees spread across the savannahs and you can smell the grasses as they waft and wax in the wind. We have 3 days of game drives with the chance to have down time in the pool and G&Ts around the camp.
We also have the opportunity, if the weather is nice, to take a morning hot air balloon flight (at own expense and around USD450.00). I have done this and it was magical, worth every penny. I also want to do it again because my phone slid down a Bat Eared Fox hole and that Bloody Bat Eared Fox has been using all my data!!
